GoKart Bed Frame

MAKE IT BIG, make it small

Jenny and Lucas find out how GoKarts stay on the track. And then it’s a race back to the craft space to dress up their bed with a cool new frame before turning in for the night.

Materials

  • Large sheets of 1/4 inch foam core (length of bed) – any colour – enough to create 2 car sides, 1 front bumper, and 1 length across the top – this will make a frame around the entire bed.
  • Small sheet of ¼ foam core in black for tires
  • Pencil for tracing
  • Duct tape in different colours/patterns (or paint as desired)
  • Other reflective materials/small mirrors/decals for décor
  • Exacto knife
  • Glue

How to make it

Step 1: Trace the side of your car onto the foam core including folding extensions at each end to attach the bumper and the top frame piece

Step 2: Repeat step 1 for the other side of the bed

Step 3: Cut out each side using exacto knife

Step 4: Cut 2 long rectangles (width of the bed) for the car bumper and the top frame

Step 5: Cut out tires

Step 6: Decorate racing car with duct tape, paint, reflective materials, etc.

Step 7: Glue on tires, decals, etc.

Step 8: Working around the bed, glue front bumper and top frame pieces to the folded flaps on the car sides to create the frame

Step 9: Make bed as usual and enjoy a good night’s sleep!
