Makeful Challenge: Cellphone Cases from thatkatherine

Scrappy Argyle Case with Bonus ID holder

thatkatherine

Wondering what do with all those short, leftover pieces of ribbon? Put ’em on a smart phone case!

For my first Makeful challenge, I skipped over my scrapbook paper stash and went to my scrap ribbon jar. I’m quite the argyle aficionado, so I’ve accumulated LOTS of argyle ribbon—amongst other things—over the last 10 years or so. I found a large light blue paint chip, trimmed it to fit the clear case and glued the ribbons onto the paint chip. While waiting for the glue to dry, I used pink nail varnish to paint the outer edge of the case. The card was then popped into the case, but I wanted to give it a little something extra. I found an old ID badge holder and trimmed it to size and affixed it to the outer backing of the case. Now it’s perfect for that mid-afternoon caffeine fix—just tuck your coffee cash or card into the ID holder. No pockets, no problem.

Materials

  • Argyle grosgrain 5/8" Ribbon - 11 strips
