I have seen so many great metallic phone cases and I have never owned one, so I knew this was my opportunity! Right from the start, I knew I wanted to use gold leaf to create my phone case. Gold leaf can be a bit fussy to work with so I wanted to play it cool and let the medium (the gold leaf) dictate the design and creation.
It was really fun removing the gold leaf. It felt like I was messing up what I just created but really I was just making it more awesome! Bonus – this project took less than 10 minutes in total!!
Materials
- clear phone case (from Makeful Challenge)
- gold leaf
- gilding adhesive
- paint brush (x2)
- toothpick
How to make it
Step 1: Using a paint brush, apply gilding adhesive to the entire inside of the phone case. Let dry until tacky.
Step 2: Apply pieces of gold leaf. Use the other paintbrush to smooth the gold leaf. Cover the entire inside of the phone case. It's okay if it's not perfect - it's not supposed to be!
Step 3: Use a toothpick to scratch lines into the gold leaf. Use your finger to rub off more of the gold leaf into more abstract shapes.
Step 4: Continue until you are happy with your creation!
I love love love this :)
