Baseball Themed Bunting

Erin Lion

I love making bunting for my friends on their birthdays (and for pretty much any other occasion), so last summer I was asked to make some for a parents’ birthday. He is a big Yankees fan, so we ran with that theme and hit the ball out of the park!

Materials

  • Newspaper
  • Ruler
  • Pen
  • Sharpie
  • Yankees font printouts
  • Yankees logo printout
  • White paint + paint brush
  • Tape
  • Ribbon/string

How to make it

Step 1: Print letters and team logo: normally when making bunting, I paint the letters on. In this instance though, we downloaded the Yankees font and printed all of the letters to spell "Happy 75th Birthday". We also printed the Yankees logo to add on blank pieces.

Step 2: Cut triangles: I love using newsletter for my bunting. It is an inexpensive alternative to fancy paper or fabric. Start by cutting out however many triangles you will need.

Step 3: Paint: I painted my pieces of triangle bunting white, letting some of the newspaper print bleed through. I then added in the black Yankee stripes using a sharpie and a ruler.

Step 4: Add letters: I then glued all of the logos and letters onto my triangles.

Step 5: String: Finally, I laid out of all my triangles in order and attached them to a piece of red ribbon with tape.
