Book Club Bunting

Erin Lion

When my friends wanted to start a book club last year, obviously my first thought “if we are going to do this right, we will need bunting!”. Fortunately, my mother had a romance novel she was wiling to sacrifice for the sake of crafts…

Materials

  • Reverse stencil
  • Cardboard
  • Pen/sharpie
  • Exacto knife
  • Paint/Paint brush
  • Old book
  • Ribbon/String
  • Glue/Tape

How to make it

Step 1: Make the stencil: Normally when making bunting, I use a reverse stencil (sticky letters you place down and paint over). In this instance, I made my own stencil by using the reverse stencil. I placed the letters I needed on pieces of cardboard, traced the letters and cut the letters out using an exacto knife.

Step 2: Cut out your bunting: Next I took the book I was using and cut out of the shape of bunting page by page with an exacto knife. I did not remove the pages from the book until I was done to A. Keep all the paper in place and B. ensure the design was the same.

Step 3: Paint: Using the handmade stencil, I painted in the letters to spell my message.

Step 4: String it: Lastly, I attached my bunting to some pink ribbon using tape.
