Makeful Challenge: Cellphone Cases

Cell-ebrating you!

I was pretty excited to get this challenge as it was something I’ve been meaning to try. My niece was actually the one who inspired this. She absolutely loves Washi tapes and she puts them on everything. So of course I had a lot of them and decided to try it out!! (I didn’t get to put this on my phone as I had to take a picture for the challenge :)
The washi tape is from Japan and was bought from our local art store DeSerres. The resin flowers ( which are really beads) came in handy and matched so well. I did coat the phone first with matt Mod Podge and then glued the roses and crystals with E6000 ( make sure you do this outside as the fumes are pretty strong) and there you have it. :)

Materials

  • Washi tape( I actually used one that had patterns, but you can choose any combo you like)
  • resin or plastic flower beads( or cabochons)
  • crystals
  • E6000 glue ( not sure how hot glue would stand to the plastic cover!
  • Scissors
  • Mod podge ( to cover your artwork once its complete, I used matt because the shiny one shows streaks )

How to make it

Step 1: Create a pattern you want on your phone (rough draft to see how it'll fit).

Step 2: Start cutting the pieces and laying on phone. Cut the extras after you've gotten half way. This will give you an idea as to how your pattern looks before you stick with it. Once completed cut out the holes for the power, buttons , ear phones. Clean the edges using a small pair of sharp scissors.

Step 3: Mod Podge the phone and let dry.

Step 4: Add any accessories or trims to the phone. Let dry.

Step 5: Then Mod Podge the areas you added accessories. I left the flowers out but did the crystals.
You're done!
