I turned a yard sale find into a daily reminder to love myself on my own terms – not society’s standards of beauty! All it took was some spray paint and a stencil! The mirror is mint, too, so what’s not to love???
Materials
- Mirror
- Spray paint (for frame)
- Spray adhesive
- Custom stencil
- Spray-on primer (for stenciling)
How to make it
Step 1: Take apart the mirror and spray paint your desired color - use a primer and paint in one for extra durability.
Step 2: Order a custom stencil with the feminist message of your choice. My mirror reads: "WARNING: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted by social constructed ideas of 'beauty'. Many stencil shops make custom stencils - I used Stencils Online for mine (link in post).
Step 3: I temporarily held the stencil on with spray adhesive and covered the other areas with newspaper. Then I lightly sprayed a white primer. I used primer to grip the glass better - a primer paint in one would work too! I love how it looks etched. And so easy!
