Makeful Challenge: Cellphone Cases

Geometric Colour Block Phone Case

Geometric patterns and colour blocking are two of my favourite trends, and I couldn’t wait to bring these looks together for my cell phone case. I already have a million different colours of nail polish, so it seemed like the obvious tool for this project. I wanted to keep some sections of the phone case clear for my gold iPhone to show through, so I chose nail polish colours that would compliment the gold.

Materials

  • Plastic Cell Phone Case
  • Painter's Tape
  • Scissors
  • 3 different colour bottles of Nail Polish (any colours you like!)
  • 1 bottle of clear top coat Nail Polish

How to make it

Step 1: Cut a 5-inch long strip of painter's tape.

Step 2: Cut that 5-inch strip of tape length-wise down the middle to create two thinner strips of tape.

Step 3: Place both strips of painter's tape on the inside of the cell phone case in whatever geometric pattern you like.

Step 4: With your chosen nail polish colours, paint each section a different colour. It takes 3-4 coats to get them fully opaque.

Step 5: Let dry for 3-4 hours.

Step 6: Carefully remove the painter's tape. If any of the nail polish seeped through the tape, it can be removed with a Q-tip and some nail polish remover or eye makeup remover.

Step 7: Paint a coat of clear top coat nail polish over the colour blocked parts to seal them.

Step 8: Let it fully dry overnight, and you've got a cute DIY colour block phone case!
